Situation - You know the Disc theory. How persistent, judgmental, condescending, patient, impatient and enigmatic someone will be if you know their Disc?
When someone does not know Disc,
it
is bog standard easy to fall into simple traps.
Until now.
Observing people in persistent or judgmental or condescending or patient or impatient or enigmatic mode is an Oxor pastime.
And how they react when they face some opposition.
You will most likely need assistance :-) This might tell you what but it will not tell you how.
Here are all sixteen patterns - all persisting, judging, condescending, being patient, impatient and enigmatic.
You will be here, too!
1. Can it be the Director - ESTJ?
Persisting:
Make no mistake, the Director is very determined and rarely gives up once they begin something. They do not want to be seen as failures and would much rather push through the hardships of life. If something becomes difficult, the Director will fight through the struggles in order to achieve their goals. They are not afraid of a little strife, especially when they know what is ahead of them.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Director is relentless. They drive to get things done to their rather high standards. A formidable and effective manager."
How they will judge you:
By how useful you are to the enterprise.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Director is very candid about their judgments. Sometimes that is refreshing, sometimes it is felt to be domineering."
Condescending:
YES - When people get on their nerves. The Director is down to earth and efficient and likes having a direction and clear order for their lives. They naturally take the lead and can spot ineffective systems. For this reason, they baulk at people who procrastinate or seem to trust 'gut' feelings over facts. People who lack direction, purpose or efficiency get on their nerves and tend to make the condescension leak out. The Director may feel like these people need to be managed or organized, by the Director of course!, so that they can have a more productive life.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: Watch this person when they are getting the run around at a retail outlet or similar. They are very difficult to deal with.
Patience:
Exhibited when people feel lost and need more direction on a project. The Director can break down tasks into manageable steps and they do not mind being asked for help if someone is not sure of their next step. They can be a patient teacher, providing clarity and direction to people who feel lost.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: Provided the person is doing it the Directors way with no deviation permitted.
Impatience:
Exhibited when life feels out of control and they do not see anything being accomplished. They like moving towards their goals at a steady pace and people who procrastinate or dawdle can infuriate. Laziness, whinging and procrastination are three things that make their blood boil.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Procrastination is a passive aggressive person’s best friend. If that is you, there will be trouble coming your way from the Director. You have been warned; we cannot do more than that.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Not really enigmatic as they are upfront about who they are. They prefer to keep things sincere
and honest, instead of hiding the details of who they are. They often go after the simpler things
in life and want to go after the things they want in life. They also want to provide for and protect
their loved ones at any cost.
Splitzo schizo. For half of their personality, everyone knows what these upstanding citizens represent.
The other side is dark. No one even suspects except the struck bums under their whip. They would vanish in
shame if the leaders in their Rotary Club ever knew the full measure of their freaktitude.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 3/16. You need to look further than their upfromt demeanour. Although their emotions can be a bit difficult for them to understand.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 15 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
2. Can it be the Developer - ENTJ?
Persisting:
Make no mistake here either (refer the Director, above), the Developer is very persistent with a natural drive that propels them forward in life. They know that they need to work hard in order to achieve their goals and have no problem overcome hurdles. The Developer can realize that things can go wrong and will often plan ways around that. They are determined individuals who are nearly impossible to stop once they set their sights on something.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Developer is very strong-willed. They are not afraid of getting their hands a little dirty, including the use of intimidation, in order to achieve their goals. Great in an emergency management situation."
How they will judge you:
On how useful you are to them. You are either with them or against them.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "If the Developer is your father, you will say that there did not seem to be a lot of wiggle room and you might well say you were bullied."
Condescending:
YES - When others are goalless. Highly driven and intellectual, the Developer is busy with tight schedules and full to-do lists. They like to tailor their lives around efficiency, progress and intellectual discovery. They tend to get condescending with people who do not seem to have a particular goal or vision for their lives. People who focus on small-talk and day-to-day details seem small-minded to the Developer and they may find themselves inadvertently sighing when those people cannot seem to dive into deeper conversational territory. They also might find themselves being patronizing with people who make decisions with their heart instead of their head.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: This is relevant advice.
Patience:
Exhibited when it comes to exploring abstract, theoretical topics. They enjoy looking at the deeper meaning of things and analyzing strategies and possibilities. At work, they are patient when they have to deal with a lot of moving parts and implement long-term strategies. They are good at thinking outside the box and trying new things.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: That is what I have observed.
Impatience:
Exhibited when they are dealing with procrastinators or hyper-emotional individuals. When there is a job to do they want to move forward at a quick, yet steady, pace. People who dawdle or get distracted tend to get on their last nerve. They also become impatient with people who are frequently slowed down by their emotions or feel they should get 'special treatment' because of their feelings.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Have some fun when you see a Developer barking at a Promoter or Agent.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Complex people but at the same time are also fairly open. They believe in going after their goals and do not let anything stand in their way. What they want and desire is not something they are afraid to be open about. Where they can seem like a bit of an enigma, is the way they can have a hard time understanding their own inner emotions. They deplores not being understood. They want to be understood or else.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 15/16. Not. They care about their loved one but they often struggle to truly express this in the way they might want to.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 16 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
3. Can it be the Results - ESTP?
Persisting:
The Results is very persistent especially when it comes to something they care for deeply. They are good at pushing others to help them achieve their goals and will not stop until they get it. This attitude can sometimes alienate their friendships, especially with people who are independent. They know how they like things in their lives and want to be sure that everything goes smoothly.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Results is both focussed and driven who does not want to go without the things they desire. They are great in any management crisis."
How they will judge you:
As a sucker and they are usually right.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Results can pick a sucker from a helicopter."
Condescending:
YES - When they are confronted by an "armchair expert" - especially the Practitioner. The Results craves adventure, spontaneity and new and novel experiences. Because they live moment to moment, they respond to life quickly and see opportunities easily. Their logical, down-to-earth outlook also makes them highly realistic. The Results tends to get condescending towards people who seem to be "armchair expert" on subjects. People who theorize about life rather than living it seem to be out of touch with reality and therefore untrustworthy. They also might seem patronizing to people who do not move quickly or respond rapidly to changes in their environment.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: I have seen a Practitioner get mauled by a Results.
Patience:
Exhibited when it comes to troubleshooting problems that arise. When there is a disaster, instead of panicking, they calmly look for solutions that can be rigged up with whatever materials are available. They are fairly patient with whatever the environment throws at them because they know that they have the courage and competence to roll with the punches.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: The one to have in a crisis.
Impatience:
Exhibited with people who seem distracted and unable to 'get with the program'. Bad drivers, people who take up space in aisles or low-energy types can make them feel restless and grouchy. They have a lot of spirit and drive and can become frustrated with people who lack any sense of urgency or awareness of the people that they are slowing down.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Some need to realise that it is unwise to poke the tiger by going slow.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Can be somewhat mysterious but this is often intentional. Deep down they have simple goals and just want to
experience life to the fullest. They do not like being held back and live very much in the present moment. They are not
all that complex; they simply do not find it easy to open up to those around them.
Any Evil Kneivel bitch that straps on a flying suit and hurls down a steep cliff at 190kph, three metres above the jagged rocks,
is more frightened of boredom than of dying. Does anyone understend that? They cannot even explain it.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 1/16. Not. Are not overly emotional but they do possess a strong desire to connect with their loved ones while they take enormous risks.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 6 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
4. Can it be the Inspirational - ENTP?
Persisting:
The Inspirational is somewhat laid back especially when it comes to their goals. They want to pursue many things at once and rarely find only one thing that they are inspired by. They dislike feeling stuck in one place and want to constantly be moving forward in their lives. When they find something that they are passionate about and emotionally connected to, they will certainly be persistent.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Inspirational is definitely skilled at coming up with a strategic plan to achieve their goals. They will be very determined once they are inspired by something and debate the issue until the cows come home to achieve their goals. As a manager they can wander away from the original target."
How they will judge you:
For holding on to social norms that make no logical sense whatsoever.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Inspirational will then come up with 42 reasons why you should be doing something else."
Condescending:
YES - When people focus on the details. This is similar to the Promoter. The Inspirational is drawn to exploration, change and novelty. They enjoy thinking outside the box and coming up with non-traditional ways to solve problems. Because of this, when they are faced with someone who likes to do things "by the book" they are naturally skeptical. The traditional, rule-guided way of solving problems goes against this naturally skeptical, experimental way of thinking. People who fixate on nitty-gritty details can also seem like they are wasting time. The Inspirational is a big-picture person who enjoys generating ideas and making things happen. But when it comes to zeroing in on the little details, they tend to feel exhausted and drained quickly. People who keep pressuring them to bring their attention back to the details can feel overwhelming to them. As a result, they may become condescending or dismissive of these types.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: It is annoying to the High Cs, particularly those who do not understand Disc.
Patience:
Exhibited when it comes to analyzing options, exploring alternatives and brainstorming new ideas. That is similar to the Promoter. Collaborating, answering questions, debating – these activities do not typically bother them. They would rather have the right option than a fast one.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: Realise these strengths.
Impatience:
Exhibited when it comes to working on detailed, small-picture tasks. Coming up with a new idea is inspiring while putting in the grunt-work to finish it can feel maddening. Tying up loose ends and taking care of nitty-gritty administrative tasks tends to make them annoyed.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Do not give the Inspirational these types of tasks.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Definitely enigmatic even though they often appear more open than they are. They have a hard time truly opening up their feelings to those around them since they often do not even understand them themselves. They are complex people who have many desires and this can cause them to bounce around a bit. At the same time they want to be grounded in some ways and make real connections which makes them even more of a complex enigma. If they are not a mystery yet, just give them five minutes. They will take you on a mind walk you never would have taken on your own. It is still a mystery why they took you there.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 10/16. Are but complax. Want to bounce around and be grounded at the same time.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 5 out of the 16. [Seems a bit low]
5. Can it be the Persuader - ENFJ?
Persisting:
The Persuader is the salesman, extremely persistent especially when they have a goal in mind. They are hard to stop when they are heading towards something and are skilled at getting things done. They are definitely persistent individuals and rarely give up when things get hard. They realize that in order to accomplish their goals they need to find ways around the hurdles in their lives.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Persuader is strong-willed and smart who is constantly striving to care for their loved ones. They often overstep the mark by interfering. Can be very effective when working for a good manager rather than on their own."
How they will judge you:
According to how well you follow their lesson plan. Are you with the program?
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Persuader might politely listen to your arguments but changing their mind is another thing altogether. Persuaders in tandem can interfere to 60 fathoms."
Condescending:
YES - When people ignore others feeling in the decision-making process. The Persuader is warm and engaging and seems to exude friendliness and acceptance to most patterns. And that, in itself, is where they can get condescending. It is not that they do not mean well; they mean so well for everyone most of the time. But when someone comes along who wants them to make the straightforward, logical decision at the expense of other people’s feelings, it feels subversive to a Persuader. They try to be reasonable and logical, but if someone is going to be hurt or adversely affected by something, they will usually look at other people’s feelings before the facts. This can lead to fiery arguments filled with righteous fury when someone asks them to disregard group needs or emotional harmony.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: Especially so when you resist unwanted interference.
Patience:
Exhibited when listening to people work through their feelings and relationship problems. They are often a confidante for others who are going through distress. They enjoy listening to people, troubleshooting relationship problems with them or inspiring them when they feel hopeless. They enjoy being confided in and trusted and will patiently analyze the emotional struggles of your friends.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: The mother hen.
Impatience:
Exhibited when they are dealing with people who lack vision or direction. Wishy-washy people who say one thing and do another get on their nerves. They like having decisions made and moving at a quick pace to achieve objectives. Dealing with procrastinators or wishy-washy types makes them feel stressed. They especially hate running late to any kind of social obligation, so if someone is slowing them down when they know they have to be on their way they will see the Persuader become uncharacteristically critical.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Some useful clues here, for sure.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Certainly enigmatic with more complex qualities than people realize. They often want people to think they are
more open than they actually are since they do not like to upset people. They express parts of themselves but there
is often so much more beneath the surface. Because of this they definitely are enigmas; it just will not be that
obvious to the people around them.
The Persuader has juicy secrets which they will never tell about, but they wll deftly leave subtle clues that secrets do exist.
They want to be mysterious. Snow is cold, wind blows and the Appraiser has secrets.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 11/16. Are but hard to pick so ranked at 11. They care about people and want to feel connected but, at the same time and it is not easy for them to open up.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 2 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
6. Can it be the Appraiser - ESFJ
Persisting:
The Appraiser is extremely persistent and determined and rarely give ups on their goals. If someone the Appraiser loves is in need, they will go above and beyond to assist them. They will often push past large hurdles in order to ensure their loved ones are taken care of. They can be surprisingly fierce and strong, especially when it comes to the people they love.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Appraiser knows how to make things happen and will often surprise people with their ability to overcome obstacles. This makes them a good sports coach also."
How they will judge you:
According to how they see it will benefit the social order.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: If the Appraiser was a parent, they loved you for sure but they never quite figured out your usefulness."
Condescending:
YES - When people disrupt group harmony. The Appraiser is harmony-focussed and practical and are often the ideal hosts. They care about making sure everyone in a group feels good and has their physical and emotional needs met. Because they are so concerned with group morale, they can be dismissive or irritated when people upset that. People who do their own thing without as much regard for group-feeling and harmony can seem disruptive even when they do not mean to be. This is usually when the Appraiser gets condescending, often without even realizing it.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: The group must march in time.
Patience:
Exhibited when people feel uncertain, anxious or uncomfortable and they are doing whatever they can to give them relief. They know it takes time to get comfortable in new surroundings and they do what they can to make people feel like they have a friendly face nearby.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: This is why the Appraiser is so popular.
Impatience:
Exhibited when people disrupt harmony for trivial reasons. People who are selfish, snarky, or bad-tempered can make them feel equally bad-tempered. They pick up on emotional cues easily and they can easily tell when a situation is tense. When someone says something unhelpful or self-serving in a situation like this they can shoot them a terrifying 'shut the fcuk up' glance that is uncharacteristically intimidating.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Do not rock the boat!
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Do not often seem to be enigmatic as their goals can be a bit evident. Their main desire is to provide for and
take care of their loved ones and this is something they want others to know. They do not like hiding things and are
often fairly honest with the ones around them. This helps them to be easier to understand.
They try so hard to team people up, triggering jailbreak departures. Why can’t the Appraiser understand this when you explain
it? It is as if there is a graviton in their brain where everything you tell them is ground to dust.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 12/16. Not. But there are times when they might feel like the deeper parts of themselves are not easily understood.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 1 out of the 16. [Clubhouse leader, but seems a bit high]
7. Can it be the Promoter - ENFP?
Persisting:
The Promoter can be persistent when there is something they truly want. They have a hard time letting go when they find something or someone they are intrigued by and will likely be very determined. They are good at finding ways around the rules and often know how to achieve their goals. In most cases they are capable of moving on, especially when something does not hold their interest anymore.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "When the Promoter has something in mind that sparks their passion they will be extremely determined and persistent in getting hold of whatever it is. In the face of opposition, they can sometimes become belligerent, toxic and unreasonable with a reputation to match. With their short attention span, they are poor managers who do not finish things."
How they will judge you:
By judging the rest of humanity as pathetically limited in their powers of creativity.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "Every day is an opportunity for 32,000 more ideas from the Promoter and an opportunity to finish none of them."
Condescending:
YES - When people challenge wacky thinking. The Promoter is open-minded and curious and do not usually strike anyone as the types to be condescending or patronizing. But when someone comes along who challenges their exploratory way of thinking they can become dismissive and guarded. Usually this happens when someone very traditional, by-the-book and cautious enters the scene. The Promoter likes to try things in new ways, experiment innovate and imagine. They are drawn to novelty and a certain amount of risk. When they have to stop and take in information from someone who is more routine-oriented, traditionally minded and concerned with rules and boundaries it can make the Promoter feel trapped or bored. As a result, they may unintentionally (or otherwise) be dismissive of that person’s views. They have a habit of vaporising, especially if they have to return favours when they have accepted so many and the score is 50:1.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: This is why the Promoter is difficult to deal with.
Patience:
Exhibited when it comes to analyzing options, exploring alternatives and brainstorming new ideas. That is similar to the Inspirational.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: Full of wacky ideas.
Impatience:
Exhibited an awful lot. This is especially when having to do administrative tasks or paperwork or anything that requires more than a nano second of concentration.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: The clubhouse leader!
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Definitely see themselves as a bit mysterious and this is because they do possess so many layers to who they
are. They appear very open, but there are often parts of themselves they keep hidden or are simply afraid for
others to see. They are friendly and kind to those around them, but rarely do they feel truly understood.
You think that they are all about hugs and kisses, then you become friends and really get to know them. What do you learn?
They are deep and all about hugs and kisses.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 8/16. Are. Even the people they love can be kept at a distance and it often takes a lot of time before they can feel truly at ease opening up to them.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 7 out of the 16. [Seems a bit low]
8. Can it be the Counselor - ESFP
Persisting:
The Counselor can be persistent when it comes to something they want but they are often skilled at convincing others to get it for them. They know how to get assistance from their loved ones in order to achieve their goals. They are great with people which is what helps them move forward in many situations.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Counselor is terrible with strategy and therefore does not always see the strategic ways to achieve their personal goals. They often request help from the people closest to them. Management positions are for others."
How they will judge you:
For being too uptight or unhappy even if you failed all your exams yesterday.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Counselor will then say 'That was yesterday! C’mon!'".
Condescending:
YES - When people demand structure. The Counselor is energetic and enthusiastic and craves a life full of adventure and spontaneity. Because they are so adventurous at heart, they can be turned off by people who need to have a plan and schedule for everything. They may brush off others’ needs for structure, seeing it as unimportant and overly-cautious. They also may feel like certain patterns (particularly the Investigator) are too fixated on ideas and theories and are out of touch with reality. This can result in some patronizing statements on both sides during conversations.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: Managers should be aware of this.
Patience:
Exhibited when dealing with people and their feelings as they have an easy-going, adventurous spirit. They do not like feeling rushed, so they do not tend to rush other people. They know that exploring their options and trying things out is a normal part of discovery. They do not like being tied down, controlled, or pressured, so they try not to do this to other people.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: Hard to keep on the leash.
Impatience:
Exhibited with people who cannot seem to see opportunities directly in front of them. People who catastrophize about the future and allow it to kill their joy in the present can be frustrating to them. They also get impatient with people who are 'wet-blankets' to their ideas and plans. They know that there is a serious side of life and they do not mind going there – but some people try to make everything heavy and that is not their style.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Do not be a 'wet blanket' then.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Has more complex sides to them but are not all that enigmatic. They are loving and kind people, who simply want to experience the joy in life. They live in the present moment and believe being there to share the moments with their loved ones. They are such charming social clingers, their life is an open book. The only mystery is, how in the world do they just keep going? Even if they did not finish the whole bottle, it was 120 proof.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 16/16. Not. They care about the people in their lives and will do anything they can to connect with them.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 8 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
9. Can it be the Specialist - ISFP
Persisting:
The Specialist lacks motivation especially if their goals could harm someone else. They rarely have a desire to push for something that might require stomping on others. They prefer to live life in the present moment, which can cause them to forget about planning for the future. They simply do not have a strong motivation to reach for things that do not inspire them.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Specialist would rather let things happen without trying to force anything into play. This makes them a terrible leader."
How they will judge you:
By your aesthetics right down to that blackhead on your neck.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Specialist will not tell you unless you have angered them or they are just irritable. They notice everything."
Condescending:
YES - When people enforce standards. The Specialist is free-spirited and gentle and tries not to be condescending towards anyone, no matter their chosen path in life. However, nobody is totally immune – even these kind-hearted types. Because they believe in marching to the beat of their own drum, they tend to get annoyed by people who are trying to live up to (what seems to them) as "arbitrary" outside standards. People who like to organize others "for their own good" seem oppressive to them and they may lash out by becoming passive-aggressive or patronizing. They may also find highly complimentary people suspicious and brush off people who seem to change depending on who they are with.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: Try being an Auditor dealing with a Specialist!
Patience:
Exhibited when they give people space to be themselves, find themselves and express themselves as they are a kind-hearted, patient person most of the time. They hate being trapped, pressured or controlled so they try not to have that effect on other people. They know that getting a project right means being patient and allowing the creative process to run its course to satisfaction. They know that understanding feelings takes time and so they do not rush people to 'get over them.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: May be issues in the capacity of employee.
Impatience:
Exhibited when people try to pry into their life. They hate feeling interrogated and feel irritable when people try to break down their boundaries in a nosy or disrespectful manner. They also get impatient with people who act as if they have all the answers. They know that life is complex and there are many different ways of looking at the same thing. People who appear arrogant or narrow-minded amp up their grouchiness level.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Do not ask how many lovers they have had.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Not all that enigmatic on the outside, since they prefer to be open and honest. They follow their heart and that is honestly the
most important thing for them. They desire to experience the world around them without having to be held back by
others.
Were they all taught an alien language at birth? Have you tried to hang on to a Specialist's train of thought? If you were
successful, there’s a very good chance that you are an alien. By the way, aliens say Specialists do not really exist.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 6/16. Are but duplicitous. They do not always feel easily understood by others but that is simply because they want to find the right ones who they can connect with on a deeper level.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 12 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
10. Can it be the Investigator - INFJ?
Persisting:
The Investigator is definitely persistent when they have an important goal in mind. They have a way of knowing which things they should push for especially when it comes to helping their loved ones. If the Investigator has a goal, including one that is important to someone they care for, they will be nearly impossible to stop. They will do anything for the people closest to them and are good at making things happen. If they are in a bit of a personal slump they might struggle with persistence. They will need to let themselves wallow once in a while in order to recharge and gain back their sense of motivation.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "If the Investigator has made up their mind on something, they will not deviate one iota. This can be both good and bad depending on the situation at hand either in a family or work setting."
How they will judge you:
By how you measure up to their ideals, how kind you are and how appreciative you are of their natural generosity.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "I was married to an Investigator. Their reputation as the 'door slammer' is well earned."
Condescending:
YES - When people get on to the details ahead of beliefs. The Inspirational is an intuitive dominant types who fixates on conceptual ideas and long-range possibilities. While this can be a good thing, it can also mean that they have little patience for people who live moment to moment. People who live in the present and do not enjoy theorizing about the future can seem aimless to the Investigator. People who focus on the surface details of life seem to then to be missing depth. As a result, the Investigator may brush off the immediate concerns of some people because they see them as having no long-term significance. They may also assume that people are shallow when they focus more on the present than the future or more on the details than the underlying meaning behind things.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: The facts compared with beliefs issue, yet again.
Patience:
Exhibited when it comes to being alone, not having a plan or otherwise being 'free'. They do not feel an urgent need to be busy or to distract themselves (although phone addiction can be real for any type). They know that their best insights and epiphanies come when they are not distracted and have quiet, so this is a time that is cherished. They are also fairly patient when listening to other people’s problems and feelings. They know how messy feelings can be and enjoy being confided in and trusted by others with them.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: Give them alone time.
Impatience:
Exhibited when they have to do a nitty-gritty task in order to move forward on an important project. For example, having a big project to finish and needing to run updates on the computer can make them grouchy. Having quiet time interrupted by a fairly unimportant question can also make them irritable. They despise interruptions and commotion when they are trying to think so they can snap at people who are overly loud or intrusive, even when they care about them.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: This is when tactlessness comes out.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Definitely enigmas even without intending to be. They are one of the types who possess so many layers to their personalities
that is can take a long time to truly understand who they are. They are also somewhat guarded people, so it can be difficult
for them to completely open up to others.
Way up there in the ‘mysterious/hard to understand’ department. The human version of a 5 Hour Energy drink. By the time you catch
up to what they are talking about, they have disappeared.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 2/16. Are. They want to find someone who will take the time to learn who they are and to discover the many layers of them, but at the same time they have a hard time trusting anyone.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 4 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
11. Can it be the Agent - INFP?
Persisting:
The Agent is often laid-back when it comes to pursuing things and prefers to think it through first. They can sometimes lack motivation, especially if they do not feel passionate about something. They can be persistent when it comes to something they feel strongly about emotionally. If an Agent has developed feelings for someone, they will likely become persistent in pursuing them. They do not want to smother that person but they feel it is important to make their feelings and intentions known.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Agent is persistent and determined to an extent. But they live in La La Land which should be taken into account before any management appointments."
How they will judge you:
On a whole array of emotional/moral/aesthetic virtues.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Agent will accept your flaws wholeheartedly at a distance if you give them their space to do what they feel like doing. They are best left alone."
Condescending:
YES - When people attempt to manage them. The Agent is sensitive and gentle and condescension is not something normally associated with them. That said, everyone has a certain kind of person who just seems to be "missing it". For the Agent, life is about imagination, compassion and a deep understanding of one’s self. When someone comes along who is focussed more on social expectations than looking inward, the Agent becomes wary. A person who looks outside themselves for guidance rather than delving into their own heart can seem shallow. This is especially true if that person tries to enforce any kind of structure or "guidance" onto the Agent. When they offer advice they might be met with stony silence or a surprisingly biting sarcastic remark instead of acceptance.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: The Agent is very difficult to manage, especially if you want something done.
Patience:
Exhibited when dealing with people who are trying to find their place in the world. Misfits and outliers sometimes need someone to confide in, and they are happy to be that person. They do not want to 'push' anyone to be something that does not feel right to them. They are also patient when people are struggling to decide on something, whether it is an ice cream flavour or a relationship. They understand indecisiveness and want to offer people the space to move at their own pace.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: Good for misfits and outliers.
Impatience:
Exhibited when it comes to impatient people. When they feel rushed or overly-managed they can retaliate with surprising fury. They are also impatient with people who cannot see outside their own perspective. Narrow-minded people, especially those that confine others with their own 'rules' spark your aggressive side.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: A Manager's nightmare.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Open and honest people who are rather complex. They try to be upfront about their feelings but they run so
deep that it is not always that simple. They express themselves but it often takes time to process everything
for them to sincerely open up in the way they want to. They often feel like others do not completely understand
them but they want this more than anything.
The poster child for being misunderstood, compounded by the dynamic that the Agent does not understand why no one else
understands. All that pales in comparison to the mystery of how they know what colour your lawn furniture is.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 5/16. Are. They try to find ways to unfold who they are and this is important to them.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 11 out of the 16. [Seems a bit low]
12. Can it be the Achiever - ISTP?
Persisting:
The Achiever is very laid-back people and can sometimes lack motivation when it comes to worldly goals. They do not feel inspired by the typical desires of others and often have a very personal set of interests. When they find something that inspires them they are very good at getting what they want. They rarely find themselves intensely motivated but, when they do, the Achiever is difficult to stop. They know what they want and will be fierce when it comes to achieving their goals.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Achiever can surprise others when they are 'on' in a variety of settings. "
How they will judge you:
By judging you as prey. They have already figured out how to 'kill' you or your ideas. They will also judge you on your hardiness. Can you take a joke, a punch, a dig?
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Achiever will want to know if you can survive in the Antarctic for 3 months with nothing but a stick."
Condescending:
YES - When people get too emotional or imaginative. The Achiever is grounded and analytical and tries to keep their thoughts focussed on the practical needs of the here-and-now. They often have a sense of adventure and a keen eye for details. Because they are so proficient in this area, they tend to struggle with people who seem to be driven by the mysteries of their hearts rather than the verifiable facts of the real world. People who exude a lot of emotional intensity or prefer the imagination over the real can seem perplexing and absurd to them at times. This is typically when their condescension shows up, although they try to adopt a "live and let live" attitude most of the time.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: Keep things practical.
Patience:
Exhibited when in the face of a challenge as they weigh up options, gather data and try to find the most effective and efficient solution. They are more patient than many patterns when complex problems show up in life. While other types might panic and scream and shout, they keep their cool and assess the situation logically. They are patient when the answer is not immediately obvious and when analyzing, experimenting and shutting out distractions works until they have found a solution.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: Mister Fixit.
Impatience:
Exhibited when when people try to interrupt their process. When there is a problem and people panic, kick things, shout and get impatient, they tend to see it as childish. They hate being rushed to find a solution. They also get impatient with people who 'pull rank' or expect them to do something just because someone said so. Rank and status mean little to them and they tend to have a more egalitarian approach to life.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Beware of the furious temper at the end of the long fuse.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Pretty laid back and upfront people but at the same time they can seem a bit enigmatic. They are often seen as mysterious to others and hard to truly understand. While they are fairly honest people, they simply are not the most open around others. They often prefer to keep parts of themselves quiet since they do not like having to share too much with others. A conversation was probably short and probably in their crime lab. On the bright side, they gave you your very first 9mm ballistic flower. How cute!
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 13/16. Not really. Can be hard to understand mostly because they put up walls and keep to themselves.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 10 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
13. Can it be the Practitioner - ISFJ?
Persisting:
The Practitioner is definitely persistent people especially when they believe their goal is important. Their main priority is caring for their loved ones which makes them very focussed on getting important tasks done. If they believe that someone they care for needs them they will do whatever it takes. They are surprisingly determined and know how to make things happen. They are often seen as docile and kind people, but they know how to be strong and fierce when it comes to the people they love.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Practitioner's persistence is sorely tested when there is any sign of conflict, especially away from the family and friends. This makes them woeful leaders in any setting."
How they will judge you:
On how many nice things you do for them.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Practitioner will always be asking themselves whether the generosity ledger is even, questioning why you are not reciprocating. They are big into give and take."
Condescending:
YES - When people disrespect what are essentially "fuddy duddy" details. The Practitioner may be one of the last people that would be described as condescending. The Practitioner is typically kindhearted, compassionate and grounded. However, they are very small minded and there are still tendencies that irk them and can eventually bring out a condescending and edgy attitude. The Practitioner likes having a plan, routine and predictable order to their lives. People who drift through life without a plan tend to confuse them. They are also particular about the details of their lives. People who inadvertently disrespect those details (like putting a cold drink on a coffee table without a coaster) might make the Practitioner inwardly cringe (especially if this is a frequently repeated habit). As a result, they may (as nicely as possible) try to tamper such perspectives if they feel like they are getting out of hand and this can seem patronizing to other personality types.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: It can be seen with the Practitioner.
Patience:
Exhibited when giving people the space to express themselves freely as they are quiet and thoughtful. They are patient with people’s feelings and also patient with the details. Getting things 'just right' for an event would drive some types batty, but they know how each detail adds to the whole experience. Their grounded, empathetic personality also gives them patience for 'messy' situations that others would shy away from.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: The Mother Teresa.
Impatience:
Exhibited when people who belittle the details or act as if the details are unimportant. When they are trying to check closely the details on a project, reorganize a room, or otherwise 'perfect' something they do not want to be mocked or treated as if they are wasting their time. They become impatient with people who seem out of touch with reality and unable to focus on the relevant tasks at hand.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: The Promoter and Agent will cause angst.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Often prefer to simpler things in life and are not always the most enigmatic people. They prefer to be upfront
about who they are and what they want. Their biggest desire is to take care of their loved ones and keep a sense
of peace in their environment. They do not need to hide this and so their goals are often pretty evident.
Any mysteries will eventually be revealed. They cannot understand what our Lord has in store. They must have faith in the mystery
of why God does what he does. Oh please God, forgive the Practitioner!
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 9/16. Not. They do not often feel misunderstood by their loved ones since they strive to connect with them.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 3 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
14. Can it be the Objective Thinker - ISTJ?
Persisting:
The Objective Thinker is immensely persistent especially when they have a goal in front of them. They dislike being held back and do not want to fail when they try at something. They hate feeling like they have given up and instead would rather push themselves to their own breaking point. They are hardworking and motivated individuals, who simply want to impress and provide for their loved ones.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Objective Thinker dislikes feeling like they cannot do something and will be determined when it comes to getting the job done. This makes them excellent at managing projects."
How they will judge you:
According to whatever existing standard might be most applicable, considering the situation and your relationship.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "For the Objective Thinker it is not personal - to them."
Condescending:
YES - When people trust intuition over facts. The Objective Thinker is organized, detail-oriented and attentive with almost nothing able to slip by This pattern believes that a well-organized, consistent lifestyle is the most efficient one. After all, the more you know what to expect, the more you can be prepared and rule out catastrophes. Because the Objective Thinker is so fixated on having a logical order to their lives, people who seem to fly by the seat of their pants distress them. They may get condescending with people who are unpredictable, inconsistent or who are driven primarily by their emotional instincts. People who trust intuition over facts also baffle them and they may inadvertently be dismissive of their ideas.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: Stick to the facts.
Patience:
Exhibited when when meticulously working through the facts and details on a project. This is probably why their type is overrepresented among accountants. They have a sharp focus and an eye for any detail or discrepancy. Their careful, observant nature helps them to troubleshoot, plan and manage a variety of logistics without flinching.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: The ideal project manager.
Impatience:
Exhibited when people rush through tasks too quickly, disregarding or ignoring problems. They know that dismissing the small things can cause much bigger problems to occur in the long run. They also get impatient with people who get lost in fantasies they see as fruitless. People who try to sell to them through a pyramid scheme, or get you to invest in their impractical business venture can make them roll their eyes.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: Unlikely to see an Objective Thinker in Amway.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Are not often seen as enigmas since they are very upfront and honest people. They enjoy the more simple things in life and often become annoyed when others have to complicate everything. They are who they are without feeling the need to hide this or become more complex than they naturally are. All that stuff about our time on Earth being tied to a search for meaning? No. The closest they get to a mystery is watching one on TV.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 14/16. Not. They are not really fans of mysteries and are more inclined to be upfront about who they are and what they want.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 13 out of the 16. [Seems about right]
15. Can it be the Perfectionist - INTP?
Persisting:
On the outside, the Perfectionist is laid back while on the inside they often have a lot of things causing them stress. They often keep these feelings inside which might make it difficult for them to feel motivated. They can be persistent when it comes to the people they care for but can often feel overwhelmed if they do not get much in response. If the Perfectionist has something they are truly passionate about they will try to find a way to push themselves forward.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Perfectionist dislikes pushing others and can have a hard time being persistent because of this. They cannot balance perfectionism with completion. This makes them a poor manager."
How they will judge you:
By judging your logic chain as most likely to be totally irrelevant.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Perfectionist has most likely already evaluated the decision at hand and have already determined what makes sense."
Condescending:
YES - When people ignore analysis and think "inside the box" or use emotion. The Perfectionist is curious and analytical and tries to keep an open mind towards people. But as long as that means keeping their sense of perspective and seeking an understanding of the forces which mold the world. But they do not keep their minds so open that their brain falls out. Viewing life from a logical, detached perspective is what makes sense. When people try to convince them to do something using emotionally-demonstrative language, they get skeptical. They do not know what to do with sayings such as: "follow your heart, not your head" or "you just need to toe the line". Any pressure to ignore their analytical side or think inside the box is likely to get a dismissive, possibly condescending response.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: This is a very fair summary.
Patience:
Exhibited when it comes to analyzing data and troubleshooting problems. While some patterns become stressed and grumpy when they have to solve a problem, they are in their element. They enjoy figuring out how things work and thinking outside the box to find possibilities. They know how to patiently wade through a bunch of data to find just the right solution or strategy in a crisis.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: But they need to be managed.
Impatience:
Exhibited when they have to deal with overly sensitive people. Having to communicate with someone who is so consumed by their own emotions that they cannot see the flaws in their logic can be infuriating. People who see themselves as morally superior and use that to 'win' arguments or shut down their argument make them feel uneasy and grouchy.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: The Promoter and Agent should stay clear.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Are definitely enigmas and often very difficult for others to truly understand. They often crave the feeling of
being understood by someone but at the same time they struggle to open up completely. They can often contradict
themselves without meaning to which definitely causes them to be an enigma. They want to be heard but at the same
time they need so much time by themselves to process things.
The Perfectionist has been told since they were a small child how intelligent they are. What kind of irony is it that,
by 4 years old, the little Perfectionist alrady knows that ‘these people’ have an 56% probability of being wrong?
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 7/16. Are. They are often mysterious even to the people who have known and loved them for years.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 9 out of the 16. [Seems a bit low]
16. Can it be the Enhancer - INTJ?
Persisting:
The Enhancer is extremely persistent especially when they have a goal in front of them. They also know when to take a step back though and will only push forward when it makes sense. They are logical and strategic people, which helps them plan out goals for their future. When the Enhancer has a plan in mind there is very little that can stand in their way. They are determined and capable of bringing their desires to fruition no matter what happens.
E. Hunter™'s view on persisting: "The Enhancer often plans for the worst which helps them find ways around any mishaps that might occur. They are not threatened at all by conflict or criticism which often surprises others. This makes them excellent 'behind the scenes' managers."
How they will judge you:
According to your objective knowledge.
E. Hunter™'s view on judging: "The Enhancer will ask you to provide proof of your arguments and whether the plan is workable. If you cannot do this, you should quickly realise that you are wasting their time and you will be treated accordingly. Watch me. I am one."
Condescending:
YES - When people are seen to be idiots. The Enhancer is 100% rational and lives for intellectual discovery and long-term goal achievement. They crave a profound, yet logical, understanding of the world around them. They also enjoy planning ahead and creating strategic road maps to accomplish their objectives. Because they are so fixated on the future and on logical analysis, they can lose patience for people who seem wrapped up in day-to-day concerns. They may brush off the concerns of some people, seeing them as insignificant if they do not have any long-term impact. They may (do) also see very effusive, emotional people as being "cloying" or "over-the-top" even when they are just being their authentic selves.
E. Hunter™'s view on condescending: Idiots beware.
Patience:
Exhibited when it comes to finding the perfect strategy for one of their visions. They know getting the timing right on their goals is crucial, so they try not to rush through the process. They are more focused on the big picture than current difficulties so they can get past minor annoyances and setbacks fairly quickly.
E. Hunter™'s view on patience: This pattern can go the extra 1.6 km when required.
Impatience:
Exhibited when people interrupt their process. They like to focus 100% on what they are doing, so when someone barges in on them, makes a lot of noise or otherwise disrupts their flow they become flustered and annoyed. They also dislike dealing with shallow, surface-level conversation when they have more important things to do. Having to 'play nice' in order to reach their objectives can feel maddening.
E. Hunter™'s view on impatience: All interrupters, please fcuk off.
Enigmatic: [Enigma = A person (or thing) that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
Can often feel like an enigma but they are pretty honest people. They possess certain complex qualities but
at the same time their goals and their desires are pretty easy to understand. Where they become misunderstood
it is simply because people are not taking the time to truly listen to them and who they are.
They are not great at expressing their emotions but they are sincere and caring people.
For such logical beings, they have certainly perfected the art of the dodge. That thing about who dunnit?
An Enhancer was acting pretty suspicious right up until they coldly provided an iron clad alibi, which does not change the fact
that they did it. They just got away with it. They believe in the eleventh commandment - Don't get caught - and they
rearely are caught.
E. Hunter™'s view and ranking on enigmatic: 4/16. Oh yes. They simply believe in a sense of privacy and do not feel like sharing parts of themselves until they fully trust someone, which is very rare.
E. Hunter™'s two-faced-ness ranking: Ranks 14 out of the 16. [Seems a bit high]
